Impact of Paine's Common Sense on American Colonists

Summary:   Thomas Paine's Common Sense was at least partially responsible for America's successful separation from England. Using persuasive, effective writing strategies, the pamphlet made the case for American independence by attacking the King of England and arguing for self-government.

Who in their right mind would be crazy enough to so heavily criticize the most powerful nation in the world? In the book Common Sense, Thomas Paine put forth a strong argument in favor of separating from Britain. But did this pamphlet really have that great of an impact on the colonists? Paine's objective was to convince the American Colonists that revolution was the key, and throughout this pamphlet he uses several great strategies to help push his point across. Not only did Paine provide immense support for his argument, he also published Common Sense and the best possible time. It was what united the colonists together for the common goal of turning away from the British. This pamphlet was very widely spread through the colonies, selling over 120,000 copies in the first 3 months.....
