Massachusetts has had many important people throughout its history. People like John Carver, William Bradford, and Myles Standish have helped to create the Massachusetts that is seen today. Even though John Carver died a year after the founding of Massachusetts he was important because he was the first governor and because he helped to arrange for the transportation of the Pilgrims to the new world. William Bradford is probably the most important man in Massachusetts history. He was the governor for more than 30 years, wrote about the history of the Plymouth plantation, and helped to arrange for the Pilgrims emigration. Myles Standish was the military advisor for the Pilgrims. "He initially concentrated on colonial defense and Indian relations.
