Summary: Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne chronicles one of these amazing voyages to uncover the truth about the world man lives on. The journey is full of obstacles and misfortunes but the characters, as well as the imaginative plot, thrive in the subterranean setting.
Throughout the history of human existence, man's inquisitive nature has led him to all regions of the globe in the name of science and discovery. His obsession to explain the natural world has resulted in thousands of expeditions and dangerous journeys in order to add to the collective knowledge of mankind. Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne chronicles one of these amazing voyages to uncover the truth about the world man lives on. The story is told through the eyes of an immature but intelligent young English scholar named Harry Hardwigg. Harry lives in London with his distinguished uncle, Professor Von Hardwigg, and his daughter Gretchen, who Harry intends to marry.
