Summary: In the book Ordinary People, by Judith Guest, Conrad Jarrett was placed in the hospital after attempting suicide. Conrad's older brother Jordan was killed in a boating accident the year before. Jordan and Conrad were on a boating trip in choppy water when the accident happened. Conrad was able to hang onto the boat and Jordan could not. As a result, Jordan drowned.
