Who Is to Blame for New Orleans?

Summary: The national government is to blame for the tragedy in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Many say that the government is focused more on the war in Iraq than on the crisis at home.
With the recent evidence that has surfaced concerning the situation in the Gulf Coast it is obvious that the national government is at fault. The inability of federal organizations such as the Department of Homeland Security, FEMA, and the failure of the government to appropriate proper funds is the reason the New Orleans disaster is such a catastrophe. Since the September 11th tragedy in 2001 federal security has been increased and funding toward homeland security has skyrocketed. Not only is it the Department's job to prevent attacks on the nation it is also their job to lend support to the aftermath of an attack. The lack of support for the New Orleans disaster makes many say, "What if there was another terrorist attack, would there be more support"" The lack of a nationally organized support effort from the government shows how ineffective the Department of Homeland Security is.
