The four main branches of anesthesia consist of: general anesthesia, conscious sedation, local anesthesia, and regional block anesthesia. Also, research has shown that pre-existing risk factors may be present in patients such as obesity, previous thrombopehbitis, type A blood, skin color

and concurrent sterilization. In addition to these risk factors, negligence in the operating room is on of the most considerable concerns of both the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
