The novel is based on Elizabeth and what her impressions are about the people she decided to associate herself with. Elizabeth's first impressions of Wickham and Darcy ended up being completely opposite of what she thought. First impression fits the title description better than Pride and Prejudice based on the fact the novel has everything to do with first impressions.
