Summary:   A brief biography and opinion of Vietnam War hero and U.S. Senator John McCain of Arizona.


I chose to do my report on Senator John S. McCain because my Mother is always talking about him and what a hero he was. I really did not know much about him at all, but now that I have done research on him, I have to agree that he was a hero and a real patriot.

Both John McCain's father and grandfather were four star Navy admirals. John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1958, McCain began a twenty two year career as a naval pilot. In 1967, he was shot down over Vietnam and held as a prisoner of war in Hanoi for five and a half years from 1967 to 1973. Most of his time as a prisoner was.....
