Summary:   Apollonius was born in Perga, Pamphylia which is today known as Murtina which is now in Antalya, Turkey. At the time of Apollonius, Perga was a center of culture and a place of worship. He lived during the latter part of the golden age of Greek Mathematics.

Apollonius of Perga, known as "The Great Geometer," whose life remains a mystery, it is not even certain that he was born in Perga. His life dates are rough estimates, and he is remembered for only the work that still exists today. Even though little is known of his life, his works have had a great influence on the development of mathematics. For example, his famous book Conics, showed new terms like ellipse, parabola, and hyperbola. His life, mathematical works, work in other areas, and his impact on math are all elements that will be discussed on Apollonius.
