Macbeth

Summary: Evil causes pain and suffering, Macbeth caused pain and suffering. Evil could be almost treated as its own entity as it has the power to grow and eventually take over people's minds and control their actions. `Macbeth' is about evil, however, innocent people and other issues such as ambition do not make the whole play about evil.

One is evil when they are malicious to someone else without a reason. To a certain extent, it is a fair summary of the play to say "Macbeth is a statement of evil." When studying the characters in Macbeth, it can be seen that Macbeth is not the most evil person in the play. Lady Macbeth and the witches manipulate their evil to get Macbeth to become evil and there are more innocent and honourable characters such as King Duncan, Banquo and MacDuff. They therefore, do not make the play just about evil.
