In the middle ages the plague was spread by fleas from black rats. The disease killed half the population of London in just one year. In 1894 the cause of the plague was finally discovered by a Swiss scientist, Yersin. He discovered the disease was caused by a rod shaped bacterium and named it after himself, calling...
