Moral Themes in "The Good Earth"

Summary:  

Pearl S. Buck's "The Good Earth" has themes of morality that are relevant to students today. The novel addresses the false allure of riches and how never being content causes emptiness in our lives.

Should The Good Earth stay on the summer reading list for ninth graders? I believe so. I can state many reasons for the book staying on the list, but I will stick with three main reasons. Theses reasons are: it will keep a ninth graders attention because something is always happening to the main character, Wang Lung, It shows ninth graders what money and power can do to a person's values, and reason three, the most important reason, is that it teaches morals for life in the future. I believe Pearl S. Buck's book should continue to stay on the ninth grade reading list.

One reason for The Good Earth to stay on the summer reading list is it will keep a ninth graders attention like light attracts moths. In the book something is always happening to.....
