Summary:
In Nietszchean philosophy there is no absolute selfhood or archetypal basis in life. Though the duality of order and chaos exists, the meaningless of life surpasses both, showing that meaningless is a greater chaos beyond the classic duality. This meaninglessness and relativity is namely the postmodern crisis. In the eighteenth and nineteenth century's, the Enlightenment was a term designated to the increasing amount of scientificic discovery's debunking religious theology.
In the eighteenth and nineteenth century's, the Enlightenment was a term designated to the increasing amount of scientificic discovery's debunking religious theology. With humanity's loss of their once certified objectivity, the individual and his society sunk into the chaotic realm of insecurity revealing the seeds of a postmodern world. The German philosopher Nietzsche, deeming "God is dead", saw the collapse of these collective truths of objectivity, showing the meaningless of the universe. Hence he located meaning and truth to be relative to the individual with his ability to surpass his chaotic existence through the will to power.
When an individual abandons his objective notions of the world utter confusion reigns; though when a greater embrace is performed by the man in this crisis a greater wholeness can be achieved and a greater self can be created. By determining yourself as your own God, the individual, being his own creator, has no limit upon his will or desire due to there being no other absolute. Thus an individual must
surpass his chaotic reality by molding the areas of his experience to suit his ends and will, developing his ego to the highest degree. The creation of a greater self demands the recognition of no absolute but yourself and your own will, and demands the surrendering to all aspects of existence, shaping a greater being from the ashes. With the destruction of the contradictory basis an individual has took to be
absolute, a soul is to congeal his past, present and future into a whole by surrendering to it, embracing it and willing himself to become Ubersmensh.
The value of the Ubersmensh is not the acceptance of the sanctity of life, but rather the embracement of life regardless of its value. It is an embracement of the totality of emotional experience and rationalistic impulses, a realization of mortality and living fully unto that demise. The Ubersmensh is not an ideal, virtue or objective but, rather an individuals own discovery and creation from himself in his experience; not a role model but a creation of yourself as your own. The embracement of life is not the only valuable notion of the Ubersmensh, as an artist his profound flux of vision and individuality helps generate the wills of others, helping them to recognize their own potential to be the God they see. In his art, or art itself, they see their own life and the vast and incomprehensible life of the Ubersmensch. It is only to often when an eye or ear darts past what they've heard or saw in confusion, giving no thought to its greater depth but merely their own superficial label, e.g. the many unconscious Marilyn Manson protesters. An Ubermensh is art itself, a creation from their own experiences. The ambiguousness of art, expressed by an Ubersmensh, shows the complex individuality and vastness of the experience these Ubersmesnch live in. By seeing art thus, it allows us to reflect on the smallness of our own lives, and if the world we adhere to is any near the vastness of what they have expressed. It is important to note that God, as objectivity, is revived, or revealed, again in the Ubersmensh.
Though the Ubersmesnch to himself is a continuous flux of experience, creativity and destruction, to a spectator he is viewed as a dominating force; regardless of his specification as idol or devil. This dominating force is objectivity; named as God, capitalism, intellectualism, Nazism and religious authority. When the dominating force or Ubersmensh is the lone icon in a society, and is in power, the dominating force is dangerous to the population and heads easily to destruction. To be safe and stabilized there must be other Ubermesnsch'es in the society to equal out the usage of power by a single Ubermensch. This fact is shown in direct context with Nietzsche and after his death in Germany. Because the Ubersmesh is the overweening pride of individual consciousness, an inflated consciousness is always egocentric and conscious of nothing but its own existence, hence it must
ventually collide with the collective power and lead to the destruction of the Ubersmensh. Because there were no other stabilizing forces in Germany who willed themselves to the degree of the Ubersmensh on the political stage except for Hitler after Nietzsche's death; there was no equaling out and destruction early on of Hitlers views. Therefore, in a weak society, it is important to place importance on the artistic action of the Ubersmensh. If empathy is in his soul, he must help manifest the wills of others to the level where they can recognize their own freedom and potentiality. In that case we will all be gods who walk upon the earth, instead of slaves to one Ubersmensh that may be corrupt and oppress.
In conclusion, to create ourselves to greatness we must separate ourselves from our small life, then we must reach out and embrace what is not included in it. We must find our will and strength to live the infinite totality of the universe. By becoming our own God, our own Ubersmensh, we are able to rise above anything in this chaotic existence because we are the determiners of our own world. Through this we can touch upon numerous more experiences and opportunity's, rather than enclosing ourselves in fear and limiting the experience of a mortal life. By fashioning ourselves artistically to an infinite degree, we become art and can serve as a helper to others by showcasing the smallness of their world. And through arts ambiguity and mystery, we can express the more profound vastness of the world of the Ubermensch.
