Summary:
Elderly women often face problems related to their health, their finances, and feelings of loneliness and depression. The smaller amounts of Social Security income they receive compared to their male counterparts, due to having earned less than men for the same work and having to take time off from work to bear and raise children, has much to do with this problem. As a result, older women suffer from an inability to afford medicine, health care, and housing, and something must be done about it.
OLDER WOMEN IN AMERICA DESERVE BETTER THAN THEY GET!
The elderly face problems they often never worried about when they were young. At twenty, or thirty, or forty, they were, in general, healthy. They had jobs in their youth and often times, usually, husbands with income. Most had family and children and they were very active. They were busy working, raising their children, and looking after their homes and their home life.
It becomes much different for them when they become old. They often have problems with their health, finances, loneliness, and depression.
Women, in general, and statistics will verify this; earn far less money over the period of their working years, than men. Consequently, they are usually less able to save money to help sustain them in their old age. Also, because of their lower earnings, less money.....
