A Tale of Mount Rushmore

Summary: A short history of Mount Rushmore and the carving by Gutzon Borglum of the faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.
When you think of a sculpture you think of a three feet by 4 feet statue, but the faces on this statue alone stand 465 feet tall and 460 feet wide. This sculpture, Mt Rushmore, is one of the most amazing statues ever built. This Mountain was being carved to honor some of the important people in United States History. The Mountain is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

The Faces on the side of Mount Rushmore are Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The Presidents were very important because they helped out our nation in time of need, and this is the reason they were all chosen. The unveiling of George Washington occurred in 1930, Thomas Jefferson in 1936, Abraham Lincoln in 1937, and finally Theodore Roosevelt in 1939.
