Macbeth and Lady Macbeth Are Counterparts

Summary: Shakespeare's way of showing how two main characters slowly change and take one anothers features.
In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare in a very unique way shows how two main characters are parallel to each other. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are two perfect counterparts. In the beginning of the play it is noticeable that they are very different from each other. Macbeth is feminine while Lady Macbeth plays the more masculine role in the play. As the play goes on however, the characters switch roles. Macbeth has more control of his surroundings while Lady Macbeth suddenly becomes less confident, increasingly fearful, and is not able to carry out the deeds she once degraded Macbeth for not being able to do.

In the 18th century, relationships between husbands and wives were quite different than nowadays. The husband was always in control, while the wife always obeyed what her husband told her. In Macbeth, however, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth's relationship worked the other way around. Lady...
