Summary: A summary of and reaction to Elie Wiesel's novel Dawn, about an Israeli freedom fighter and his internal struggle over his assignment to execute a British soldier.
The Novel, Dawn, by Elie Wiesel took place during a religious war. The Israelis were fighting for freedom against the British. One of the Israeli fighters was Elisha. He joined a Jewish terrorist organization called, "The Movement", and Elisha was assigned to kill a captured British soldier as a reprisal for the execution of a Jewish prisoner.

John Dawson was the captured British soldier and his mother asked for a pardon of David ben Moshe, the Jewish prisoner. The government refused because they did not believe the Movement is really going to kill John and pardoning David would just show sign of coward.

Elisha, the main character, did not want to become a murderer. He was ashamed of his assignment. Elisha tried to comfort himself by talking to John and agreed to deliver John's letter for his son. At dawn, both John and David are killed.
