Hypocrisy refers to an expression of agreement that is not supported by real conviction. It describes a person who has a false appearance of virtue or a simulation of goodness. In "Revelation" Mrs. Turpin unknowingly encompasses these characteristics, although she deems herself to be grateful and of good character. She ranks herself among the highest on the social ladder.
