It also tells you about the treacherous villain Count Olaf who tries to steal the Baudelaire fortune. Lemony Snicket often mentions in his books a mysterious woman named Beatrice. He refuses to tell anyone anything about this mysterious Beatrice except that he loved her, she married another man, and then she died. There are eleven books in this depressing series with two more to come, equaling the unlucky number thirteen.
