Summary:   This is a brief biography documenting the life of poet Emily Dickenson. Describes how her odd life style choice affected her writing.


Anyone who has experienced a loss has felt the empty weakening emotion as an after affect. Many people do not necessarily express these feelings, however when a person takes these reactions and puts them into writing it is often moving to the reader. Emily Dickenson is a prime example of a person playing off these emotions and having it result in a successful style of writing.

Emily Dickinson spent her entire life shrouded in mystery. Few people knew how she actually thought and felt throughout her adult life, but after her death people would soon discover how deep and gifted she was. Dickinson was born into a life of many luxuries. She was never especially close to either of her parents, her father being rather cold and unemotional and her mother absent-minded and detached.
