The Biblical Social Status of Women

Summary: Examines the role of women as portrayed in the bible. Contrasts that with how women actually function in modern society.

Then the man said `this at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; this one shall be called woman, for out of man this one was taken.'" (Genesis 2:21-23) This second account of the Creation may not be completely factual, but it does reflect an image of women during biblical times as being inferior to man.
