In Emily's family there were five children, four girls and one boy.

Emily Jane Bronte was born on July 30, 1818 in Thornton, Yorkshire. Emily Bronte was the only child from her family to be given a middle name. She was the fifth child to be born to Patrick and Maria Bronte. In May of 1825 Mrs. Patrick Bronte died, leaving her husband, Patrick, to raise their children alone. A month later, young Elizabeth Bronte died. To spark imagination in his children's minds "Mr. Bronte [brought] home twelve.....
