In August of 1642, Charles I, who was king of England, declared a civil war. A major trigger of the war was when Charles decided to rule England with out Parliament. He ruled like this for eleven years. Since Charles didn't have to have Parliament approve of his actions, and since he was short on money, he decided to impose taxes, and many of them were not welcome and thus brought this country closer to a civil war. Another trigger was religion. At the time, England belonged to the Church of England. Charles and Archbishop Laud claimed that they were improving the Church, by making it more beautiful, therefore feeling closer to God, which upset many people, and thus a civil war was even closer. Yet another trigger of the war was when Charles I tried.....
