The Mayor of Casterbridge was a masterpiece of Thomas Hardy's novels. Things went crisscross in the story, and that influenced me a lot.
Young Henchard was rash and stubborn. He made a very big mistake: he sold his wife and daughter for a little sum of money after he had gotten drunk. When he suddenly realized his fault, he started to engage in trade and reached success. He also became the mayor of an English town called Casterbridge. That period was the summit of Henchard's life. But after his former wife and daughter arrived in Casterbridge, his destiny started to change. Henchard, he atoned for hurting them with his heart and soul, his life gradually went to collapse as he opposed the destiny.
As the central character in the story, Henchard almost influenced the destinies of the other.....
