In Support of Capital Punishment

Summary:   Discusses pros and cons of the death penalty in Australia. Examines its fairness. Encourages a national vote on the subject.


The question of whether or whether not the death penalty should be reintroduced has been on the minds of Australian citizens for a number of years now. Recent polls show that 70% of those questioned wanted the death penalty to be brought back for crimes such as murder and rape murder. Some may argue that the death penalty is inhuman and that it is breaching the rights of an Australian citizen, But I think that is ridiculous! Most people would agree that when a person commits a crime as brutal and cruel as murder, then that person has forfeited all rights that are given to every other Australian citizen.

The death penalty is a punishment, it is not necessarily a prevention. It might not prevent some, but if there are any sick minded and cruel people out.....
