Plot Summary of the Catcher and the Rye

The Catcher In the Rye is a novel about a young man named Holden Caufield. Holden narrates the story over a span of four days.

When the novel begins, Holden attends Pencey Preparatory school, but has been kicked out due to his excessive failing. Pencey Prep. will be the fourth school that Holden will be kicked out of sue to failing. Holden goes to his old professor, Mr. Spencer, to tell him that he is leaving. Mr. Spencer tries to lecture Holden about his failure to keep up his grades at Pencey, but Holden gets tired of Mr. Spencer talking and he leaves.

Holden returns to Pencey after he leaves Mr. Spencer's house. When he gets into his dorm he is quicky annoyed by his roommate, Sradlater. Stradlater happens to be going on a date with one of.....
