The Exploration of the New World

Summary:  

Reviews the discovery of the new world and the benefits it brought. Discusses countries that settled the new lands and what events took place in the new world after it was colonized. Explores how many European nations benefited from the discoveries.

A lot of people don't stop to think about or realize what the exploration and discovery of the New World was about or why it was invested in. The thing is, it is very obvious to realize that it was about money and only money. Many European countries were interested and involved in the spice trade during the fourteenth century. The leading country was Portugal, which selfishly dominated and profited hugely off of the spice trade, which brought spices and other supplies from the east, around the southern tip of Africa, and back to Europe. The problem was that long, rough journey around Africa claimed many lives and exhausted sailors. Other countries, such as Spain, were desperate for a quicker route to the Indies, but it seemed that was out of the question. That all changed.....
