The shawshank redemption, adapted from a Stephen King novella is a film which seems to exult the resilience of human strength, character and spirit. To achieve this effect, the director, Frank Darabont ne4ded to show the audience the paradoxical nature of the human conditions. Darabont uses various techniques such as lighting, motifs, characterization, irony, and colour to show that human can have the capacity for sin and redemption, hypocrisy, flexibility; and hope.
