Many people colonized the original English colonies of America for different reasons. In an essay describe who and the reasons why each, colony was started. Be sure to underline or highlight five names of the people and the colony they started.

Sir Walter Raleigh was the leader of the English settlers in 1587. One of the mens wives in the colony gave birth to Virginia Dare, the first English child born in America. Joint stock companies were companies that sold shares to finance there money in North America. John Smith was in charge of the development. He made everything happen in Jamestown. They came up with a government, it was called the house of burgesses.
