Analyzing Othello

Summary:   Discusses the William Shakespeare play, Othello. Provides a character analysis of the title character. Analyzes the transformation the character undergoes in the story.


OTHELLO

The character of Othello undergoes major changes throughout the play 'Othello'. There are many characters that influence Othello and many incidents that occur that causes a noticeable change in character. Also Othello experiences changes within that would explain the incredibly different character that we see towards the end of the play.

The character of Othello we first get to know in the play is well-spoken, rational, mature, dignified and respected. Othello is friendly towards his peers, passionate about his life and job and comes across as knowledgeable and logical. He is very passionate towards his wife Desdemona, but as the play progresses, he comes to question this relationship and Desdemona's commitment towards him.

Othello is a very noble, modest, black army general, who is in service of the Duke of Venice. In his opening scene, Act One.....
