A Christmas Carol Essay

Summary:   An overview of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", which tells of the character of Scrooge and his visits from the three ghosts of Christmas.


Charles Dickens wrote a classic story, "A Christmas Carol", about a man, Ebenezer Scrooge, who knew only how to be greedy. Because of this he was haunted by ghosts to remind him of how cruel and greedy he truly was. The moral bankruptcy caused by a life of greed caused Ebenezer Scrooge to repent and dedicate the rest of his life to loving his fellow man.

Through the haunting of the first spirit, the ghost of Christmas past, Scrooge saw his long forgotten past, realized all the good he had abandoned, and all he had done to lead him where he was now. He saw his childhood, his sorrows and happiness. He saw his friends and family. He also saw himself turn from all these through his greed as he grew older, and saw himself alone. This.....
