Man's Inhumanity to Man

Imagine living in a cardboard box, with nowhere else to go, no food to eat and the rain poring down hard. This is a horrible way to live. Yet worldwide millions of people are living in these conditions. True, the United States has poverty nation wide, but nothing compared to what is happening in third world countries. People are struggling to survive, by finding any clothes to wear and digging through trash to get food. Some poverty stricken people have families and are desperate to find somewhere safe to live with their families. In some countries, no middle class exists. Only high class and low class, if someone is not rich they are dirt poor. The U.S.A is the most prosperous country worldwide; its wealth over comes any other. That is why numerous numbers of foreigners either cross the border from Mexico, or come by ship from their countries to live in ours. Poverty is a perfect example of man's inhumanity to man, poverty exists world wide, and may always be a problem.

In some third world countries people struggle just to survive. They have to live day to day not knowing if they will have a full meal, much less any scraps to eat. They have to go looking for food by either; looking through dumpsters, beg for the food or scrape up some change, enough to buy a very small portion. It is harder to find clothes than to find food. Rarely do they find clothes in good condition, the clothing have holes in them, unwashed and may not fit right. They have no choice but to live like this, they have nothing else. In addition to having very little to eat and scrappy clothing, hygiene is also an issue. Since they have really no other place to go, they are left either bathing in a river or lake. If there is no lake usually they do not bath all together, for long periods of time. But for most that is the least of their worries.

Along with all those problems, there are poverty stricken people with whole families to take care of. This proves to be more of a challenge. They have not only to find food for them selves, but also for their spouse and children. Drained of energy from lack of food, dehydration and tired, the father has to go find food for a whole family not knowing if he gets food for everyone. If not he will just have to give it to his children. Desperate for shelter, they will find anything to live in. there have been times where people dig into the sides of mountains of hills just to have a place to live. Mean while; at the same time, same country, there are people living the good life. In some countries, middle class does not exist. If someone is not living in a luxurious palace with servants tending to them, they may be living in a house held together with rope, walls made of old garage doors or other pieces of meal. Some people who live in the United States have no idea of how extremely lucky it is to live here. Numerous immigrants do though, and that is why they come here.

Every year thousands of immigrants cross over the Mexican, American border. Although they take the risk of being sent back right when they get here. It is definitely worth the risk, for them. The immigrants' dream is that the United States holds better opportunities for them, so that they can get off the streets and find a job. Many of them bring their entire families hoping that their children will grow to be successful adults. Thought immigrants might have made it across ok, and have been working and living in the United States for an extended period of time. They always run the risk of being deported back to the country they came from, back to the poverty and oppression, in some cases. One method used by immigrants, is to marry a U.S citizen. By marrying a U.S. citizen, in turn makes them a citizen, enabling them to live and work her in the US.

In conclusion, poverty exists through out the world. It is most likely going to be a major social issue for years to come. People in third world countries may always dig through the trash to find something to eat for the day, not knowing if they will find anything. Wearing ragged clothing and not being able to shower every day, or at all. Families may always live in horrible conditions, having no other choice, because they do not have enough money. At least they have a chance to come to America and start over, get a job and make a better life for their families. Poverty is an example of man's inhumanity to man because people could go out and help, but most do not.
