When one has a dream, many say that giving up on it or losing hope is not an option. They say, "Never give up!" and "Anything is possible if you put you mind to it." In the Story of Jumping Mouse this is evident. An old Native American legend, the story is about a little mouse with a huge dream. It tells of his journey across many lands and how he endures many hardships along his way to "the far-off land." This is his ultimate dream; it is all he has ever wanted and the elder mice tell great tales of this land and how it is beautiful and forever peaceful. The author and illustrator John Steptoe retells this tale giving is life and picture.
