Summary:   Discusses what's involved in the job of an architect and what sort of personal skills are required.


Today I'm going to be telling you all about the job of an architect. Firstly you're probably wondering what the job of an architect involves and what the personal requirements include, well then I shall tell you: to be an architect there are a number of things in this career of choice and a lot of personal skills required, the first (and most obvious) is understanding the design of complex buildings, because while architects can design houses and apartments, etc... the bigger firms tend to lean more towards public buildings, for example the opera house, art galleries, and so forth.

You must be able to understand the science of buildings (what goes where), the properties and behaviours of materials (and I don't mean how good or bad they've been, I'm talking about the weight, capacity, etc,.....
