Susan Eloise Hinton is one of the best known and well acclaimed young adult writers of her time. Despite the fact that many of her works such as the Outsiders, had been banned from public schools, due to the more idealistic topics such as gangs, Hinton has managed to succeed in gaining teenage enthusiasm throughout the world. She has published several young adult books and novels and throughout most of them she remains somewhat anonymous by not revealing her first name. She often wrote from a male point of view because while growing she was a tomboy and felt that guys got to do everything but during the 1950`s and 60`s, many people still felt that women were not capable of writing from a male perspective.
