Summary: A summary of the hardships the Native Americans experience in Sherman Alexie's "The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven".
More than 500,000 Native Americans have been killed by settlers in the United States. Every tribe of Native Americans living within the United States have been moved from their home at least once during there existence. Native Americans are always being portrayed and/or stereotyped as being savages, and drunks. In today's day and age Native Americans are stilled stereotyped and treated like second class citizens. In "The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven", written by Sherman Alexie, Alexie creates stories about how these stereotypes and hardships Native Americans still face today. Because Native Americans are always being put down and stereotyped, it diminishes their pride.
