Australia went to war for many various reasons. Most of these were to benefit Australia's global status. For example Australia went to war under the British empire because it wanted to prove its loyalty to Britain if ever Australia needed aid in the future Britain would respond. Also Australia was paranoid about being invaded by the French and Germans. So they saw this as opportunity to rid themselves of any potential enemies seeing Australia has such a vast coastline to patrol.
