Solutions to Bullying in New Zealand Schools

Bullying is a serious problem in New Zealand's schools that requires a solution. Surprisingly, New Zealand's secondary schools have a higher rate of bullying than England and the international average. Therefore, New Zealand's schools are trying to decrease this rate by encouraging the bullying victims, working on changing the bullies' behaviours and promoting the idea of a 'bullying-free school'.

A very important key step in solving the bullying problem is encouraging the victims and helping them realize their own abilities. Studies have shown that victims are often poorly skilled people, with poor social skills, which disable them to fit in with their mates. Schools should be trying to help those people discover their own abilities, develop their own hobbies and realize that they are not less smart than the others. Giving confidence to those victims is going to help them get rid of their passivity and get involved...
