Good morning Mrs Bishop and fellow class members, or should I say Little Egrets. I am as you may know Professor Great Egret the wise and I will be taking the lecture. Today I will be examining a diverse, yet vulnerable ecosystem at risk, the ecosystem of the Macquarie Marshes. As well as examining the biophysical interactions of what is known as "the largest inland semi-permanent wetland in Southeastern Australia" my focus shall also be on progression of the ecosystem over time with relation to its management strategies if you can call them that.

The Macquarie Marshes are situated on the Darling Riverine Plains at 30o30'S to 31o23'S and from 147o28'E to 147o47'E. Geographically, it is located on the Macquarie River near Warren in central Northern NSW. The area is approximately 200,000ha in total.....
