Two sisters who grew up in England in the 19th century always dreamed of becoming famous writers. Susanna and Catharine Parrthe and their husbands make a decision that dramatically changes their lives forever. In 1832 they emigrate to Upper Canada.

They believe life will be easier there and that they would be the top of their society, these thoughts are crushed soon and they are left with the bitter truth and difficulty of life. Their older sister stays in England for she does not want to face a life with out objects and things that are not necessities.

Catharine released her first book, The Backwoods of Canada, which was one of her only great successes and brought her sufficient.....
