Summary:   This is about the influence of jazz in today's musical outlook.


Jazz is a huge influence on todays music, like many styles of music it originated from the beats of the african drum which later on evolved and joined with other instruments to create a new form of music. There is now big band jazz, solo jazz, instrumentation jazz, acid jazz, modern jazz, classical jazz, funk (style of jazz).

The basic role of the members of a jazz band is, for the front liners/ singers, to play the melody and take improvised solos based around the harmonic progression (chords). The guitars sound out harmonic changes using syncopated rhythms behind the front line and also take improvised solos. The bass or double bass player sounds out the harmonic changes of the song, they create the pulse.....
