Summary: Essay discusses the major events of the 1980's.
During the 1980's many events have happened. Pop Culture- wise, many television shows were on. Shows that set a record number of viewers. Shows of today and other decades do not match up with the shows of the 1980's. The World was a different place before the 1980's and it changed dramatically. After the generation of the 1970's, the 1980's was an era without any very major wars.

In the 1980's, there were two small wars. They were both in the Middle East. One of the wars was the Iraqi- Iran war. Saddam Hussein, who became dictator in 1979, decided to try and take over Iran. He wanted to show that he was a good dictator and he wanted to attack Iran before Iran used Iraq's vulnerabilities against it and attacked it. Another reason for his attacking of Iran was oil rights in Iran.
