Biography of Isaac Newton

Summary:   This essay provides a detailed look at Newton's life. It explains all of his major works, and the impact they had on modern day science.


Isaac Newton was born on Christmas Day in 1642 at a small manor in Woolsthorpe, in Lincolnshire, England. Isaac's father died 3 months prior to his birth. His mother was remarried to Reverend Barnabas Smith when he was 3 years old. The newlyweds moved to North Witham, leaving Isaac behind to be raised by his grandparents. He was reunited with his mother at the age of 14, when she returned after the reverend's death.

During his teenage years, Isaac attended the King's School at Grantham. At the age of 19 Isaac was admitted to Trinity College at Cambridge. At college he was inspired by Isaac Barrow this professor of mathematics. In January 1665 Newton received his bachelor degree. The outbreak of the Bubonic plague forced him to leave Cambridge and return to his home. During the time.....
