Spanish Civil War

Summary:   Essay consists of a discussion regarding the Spanish Civil War.


In Spain, in February of 1936, conservative military officials along with fascists began a bloody three year civil war with defenders of the republic. Each of these defenders of the republic had different ideologies and different goals to be accomplished by the war among each other and within themselves. The defenders of the republic included the Republicans who were moderate and had goals to preserve the republic. It also included socialists, communists, anarchists, and regional nationalists seeking independence for their group. It is very hard to say what the goal of each group was because within each group they had different goals. Even though they had different ambitions they were united in their cause against the fascists and conservatives.

The first group who defended the republic was the moderate republicans. The republicans had several different ideas.....
