From George Washington to Rosa Parks, JFK, and countless others, Americans have been blessed and challenged by various leaders. What makes these people leaders and sets them aside from everyone else? Leaders show dedication to their cause, whatever it might be. They also have a following, and most importantly, leaders have a mind of their own and can think freely. Based on these qualities, one could say that Malcolm X was certainly a leader of the finest sort.

One distinct quality of a leader is his or her dedication. Malcolm showed dedication in whatever he did, whether it was the Nation of Islam, under the guidance of Elijah Muhammad, or to understand and convey the true meaning of Islam. When Malcolm first learns about the Nation of Islam, he says, "I've never been one for inaction......
