Cyrano de Bergerac: Character Analysis of Cyrano

Summary:   This essay is about "Cyrano de Bergerac" by Edmond Rostand. It gives insight to the character Cyrano. This was written from the point of view that he is a manipulative, deceptive coward.


In the play Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmond Rostand, Cyrano has the characteristics and qualities of a gentleman, and somewhat of a hero. He helps his friend, Christian, win the heart of the woman he loves, all while he himself is suffering on the inside from the same feelings of love. He also saves Lignière's life by dueling one hundred men who want Lignière dead. He keeps De Guiche from interrupting a furtive wedding between his good friends Roxane and Christian. Cyrano seems to be a remarkable friend to have, but he is actually a manipulative, deceptive, and cowardly individual.
