She's cast as an outsider because she was raised by white people, and knows their evil ways. Laughing Boy and Slim Girl flee the village and are married. She is dishonest to him and is always going to the town where the white people are, and Laughing Boy helps her reconnect to the Navajo she once was. This novel is almost like a biography of Laughing Boy, which depicts the title.
