A Unique Magdalena

Summary: Magdelena is one of the daughters of Bernarda ALba. She has an important role in the play, as she serves the carelessness of death.
In the play The House of Bernarda Alba, there are five main characters that play the roles of daughters. Each of these characters performs specific attitudes towards the audience, they may be considered sometimes that they are viewed as one group however, most of the times; each shifts their acts towards the other. One of the five daughters is Magdalena the second eldest daughter, aged 30 and was the favorite daughter of her father. She is a unique character, as she has the heart of being faithless.

"Amelia: `Your Shoelaces is untied.'

Magdalena: `What if it'

Adela: `You'll trip on it and fall'

Magdalena: `Well, that'll be one less'"

This shows how Magdalena is accepting the eight years of mourning on her father's death, she also understands that each society has their own needs and job to do, and her cultures forces her to mourn for eight years...
