Biblical Allusions in "A Separate Peace"

Summary: This essay discusses the Biblical allusions in chapter 4 of the novel"A Separate Peace."
Throughout chapter four of A Separate Peace, there are many biblical allusions. In particular, the story of Eden, and the resurrection of Lazarus are mentioned as ways of presenting the similarities between this novel and famous anecdotes within the bible. In addition to the biblical references in this chapter, there are also two falls, one that is demonstrated through character traits of Gene. Furthermore, the fall of Finny is also considered a fall but different in that it is at a physical level.

The biblical references in this chapter can be seen as very significant symbols to the novel. When Gene wakes up the morning after he and Finny slept on the beach, it seemed as though everything was dead. The gray sky and the dim lighting created murky surroundings before the sun rose.
