Cell Phones Should Be Allowed in School
There are many crucial issues facing students at Thornwood. One of these issues concerns the cell phone policy for students. Students should be able to carry cell phones during school. With students carrying cell phones, they will have them for emergencies, personal reasons, and last minute school schedule changes.
First, cell phones should be allowed in school in case of emergencies.
Teenagers are getting more independent as they get older, and often the only
way that their parents can be immediately assured of their whereabouts and
safety is by calling us. Some emergenices would include fires, shottings,
and tornadoes. If there was a fire the students could call the fire department
if the teacher wasn't able to reach the phone. The horrors of Sept. 11 and the
Columbine school massacre should show us that we are highly exposed to
danger, even during the school day. The only way that we can have the
